FAD TALKS: "The constructed Image" , 2024,
Barcelona,Es
We live in an era dominated by images. New generations construct their identities through photographs shared on social media; ideas are transmitted, distorted, or solidified through visual language. In this context, the image does not simply accompany architecture: it defines it, projects it, and often precedes it.
This project begins with a fundamental question: Is it architecture that has influenced photography, or is it photography that shapes contemporary architecture?
Photography, as an artifact and instrument of power, offers a reading of the world that not only reflects but also constructs meaning. In the case of architecture, it is often only through images that we access spaces, imagine them, and desire them. The most influential architectural works today circulate in visual formats: social media posts, renders, and curated photographs. In this flow, the photographer’s gaze becomes an essential mediator between the physical space and the potential user.
With the aim of generating debate and critical reflection, this series invites architects, photographers, and visual artists to engage in dialogue about the construction of imaginaries, the power of contemporary representation codes, and the need for a transdisciplinary perspective. The goal is to highlight the value of the image as a tool for creation, communication, and thought within architecture and design, and to position Barcelona as a key stage in this global conversation.
